Product Description
Gaining ten thousand feet of altitude over one hundred kilometers won't break down the Patagonia Fore Runner. The shoe's breathable air-mesh/synthetic leather upper has perforated nylon reinforcements for added durability, and the microfiber-reinforced heel counter, rand and toe bumper provide protection and a secure fit. A moisture-wicking 100% polyester air-mesh collar and tongue lining keep feet cool and dry. The breathable, anatomical and perforated EVA footbed (15% recycled) of the Patagonia Fore Runner Men contours to the foot. A lightweight and gender-specific footframe provides a smooth forefoot stride, while a shock-absorption distribution plate protects against rocks. The multi-density sticky rubber outsole provides 360-degree wet/dry traction in varying conditions.

For two years I have been transitioning away from heavily cushioned, pronation control shoes to lighter, lower drop running shoes. My form has changed and my shoe preference has changed along with it. I still run in a variety of shoes from Patagonia's Specter and original Tsali with their 10 mm drop to lower drop shoes like the Saucony Kinvara to true 'barefoot shoes' like the Merrell Trail Glove (which is awesome for short trail runs, just watch your foot placement!). But now with the Forerunner I have found 'my shoe'. I was a bit unsure before my first run in them but now I am a devoted fan to the point where I do not want to run in anything else: love the light weight, 4 mm drop, and the fact that they have just enough cushioning so that my feet don't feel beat after a longer run. I know Patagonia is updating the shoe for Spring 2013 for a more secure upper. Crossing my fingers and toes since I already find the upper holds my foot in really well. Just a fantastic all around shoe for trail or road.

I originally got these shoes to wear to the gym. What I noticed right away for weight lifting they are great. What I like about them is one gets a bit of ground feel like a minimalist shoe. The shoes themselves are lite and comfortable. Even with ventalation i have been able to wear these in cold conditions. It seems 30 f is about the limit. When wet they seem to dry fairly fast.I urge anyone wanting a good shoe to wear to the gym that has minimalist feel to try these shoes. The colors seem too loud to wear outside an athletic setting.
