Product Description
BAREFOOT RUNNING Light, responsive, fast. Legendary performances are empowered by the natural running characteristics of this shoe. This shoe is part of the barefoot running range from Inov-8. The Inov-8 Road-X 255 are suitable for athletes requiring a long distance racing flat. Dynamic Fascia BandTM which replicates and supports the foot's plantar fascia ligament. The low profile outsole with high contact area offers a smooth feel whilst razor cut siping enables grip in wet conditions. Barefoot running is very different to running in a very cushioned pair of trainers and these shoes try to replicate that experience. When using these shoes you will find that you run on your toes the whole time which uses very different muscles and if you haven't used them before you will find they really use your calf muscles alot. Because of this it is suggested that you start training by doing a very small mileage in them and building it up week by week. The shoes are extremely lightweight and low profile, in the long term, the shoes are made to help you run more efficiently and naturally.

I have a pair of F-Lite 195's and Road-X 233's, so the Inov-8 brand, quality, construction and feel are nothing new to me.The Road-X 255 do not disappoint and provide a firm, responsive ride with just a touch more cushion than the 233's. They also have a slightly higher heel-toe drop, and I use them in my rotation of running shoes for slightly longer runs, or when I don't want the full minimalist experience.I wear a 9.5 M (US) in both the 195 and 233, however I find that the Road-X 255 feels a bit tight around the upper in this size. I can alleviate the pressure with an alternate lacing pattern, however I also purchased the Road-X 255 in size 10, and they are completely a better fit.This shoe is fantastic for the runner looking to make a transition into minimalist running without going overboard, or too extreme too soon. It's also ideal for minimalist runners who occasionally want a touch more cushion without returning to a bulky shoe with a tremendous toe-heel drop.

I am on my 3rd pair and love these shoes. The support and mileage are perfect. I use them for long runs, and ran RAGNAR Miami to Key West in these without any fit issues. Previous running shoe was Brooks Adrenaline series.

From where I live, road/pavement is the most abundant terrain. I started out with the RealFlex craze from Reebok and then the Nike Free Run. I ran with the Reebok RealFlex Speed shoes first. With their 9mm drop it was a huge transition for me from those traditional higher heeled sneakers. However, I've adapted and enjoyed them for quite a bit. Though sometimes running on the hard road felt uncomfortable with them. I feel like they are made more for the trail and I had to choose a new pair of road shoes. So, I try the Nike Free Run 5.0+ which has a 13mm drop. Worst decision ever. I could not get used to the higher heel to toe drop anymore and my runs became more uncomfortable, compared to when I wore my Reeboks.All hope seemed lost. I've researched about Inov-8's Road-X 255 shoe and decided to try them out. Boy, I could not have been happier with this decision. So, I'm back to the 9mm drop. The cushioning is just right. I felt like my feet could take the impact of mid-foot striking better than ever. Also, the ingenious sole padding has holes for maximum breath-ability for my feet! These shoes break in pretty easily, so I'd suggest going with your exact foot size. Road runners who want to move into a more minimal running style need to definitely consider this shoe. Find this shoe at a lower price and it is a steal!
