These shoes look great. The shoes need a two day break in period, after that they're like a glove. From a technical standpoint, the shoes really help with my shin splints. The technical description says it all:The New Balance 1770 is packed with cutting-edge technologies, from its featherweight REVlite cushioning to the luxurious no-sew welded upper. N-ergy shock absorption extends beyond the crash pad into the midfoot to accommodate not only traditional heel strike runners, but also those who land on the midfoot. The performance-fit upper hugs the foot but is forgiving enough for most foot shapes, and the modified Stabilicore medial support mildly stabilizes the gait so even light overpronators can sport this neutral-cushioning shoe. Colors: Red + Grey FYI New Balance's numbering system has changed recently - anything that ends in 80 is neutral (880, 1080).70 = very mild stability so with medium arches

I walk anywhere from 15-20 miles a week in these shoes, sometimes short jogs depending upon how motivated I feel or if I'm trying to impress the random car passing by. In the past, I've had problems in my arch and heel area. If I go for an extended time without walking/jogging, I develop plantar fasciitis, which is painful enough where I hobble a few days to a week, and have to take an extended break exercising.These shoes alleviate that issue. I gained about 10 lbs. over the holidays (no exaggeration), and went out for my first 4-5 mile walk. This is typically the exact scenario that creates the plantar fasciitis flare-ups. My feet have been fine though, and since then, I've gone for about 4-5 more walks, and no pain whatsoever.I wish I bought more of these. I love finding a shoe and sticking with it. I got these for $89.99 and they are already around $107.These shoes are definitely worth it though if you suffer from heal or arch issues and don't feel like spending $200+ at a footwear specialty shop.

These shoes are like "summer" tires; very good at what they do, but dont last long. Mine literally started falling apart after 160 miles.
