Nike Air NM

I got these shoes thinking everything was okay and was glad to get them. So I wore them finding the right shoe was very tight so when I got home checking things out I found I had two different sizes. The left one was a size 9 the size I ordered and the right one was a size 8. Emailed the store they said there was nothing they could do because I wore them. I understand this but a person should be able to trust the customer to check things out before sending them out. I told them they must have the mate to my size 9 shoe I ordered and I would be willing to buy it for a fair price. But they won't contact me to settle this problem so now I'm stuck with a pair of worse less shoes.

I don't take them off

First things first, I love the shoes. They fit me perfectly and I think the purple ones are "cool" enough to wear with normal clothes. When my feet are measured I wear a women's 12 narrow or about a 10.5 in men's. A Brooks 11 fits me very well in this shoe as well as the Beasts I had once upon a time. I don't have a TON of room but I wouldn't consider going bigger. If you have a wide foot you might want to consider going a half size larger than your usual athletic shoe or possibly this just isn't the shoe for you.It's really important to note this shoe is not cushioned and if you're looking for a light shoe with any give at all I might suggest Saucony's Kinvara, which I also liked running in a lot and is also very light. The Brooks sole just feels like hard foam when you squeeze it. Right now I use this shoe to walk around in (I walk between 3 and 5 miles every day) and at the gym, but when I start running outside again in spring, I might prefer a different shoe that makes me feel more bouncy.Again, I can't say enough how much I like wearing this shoe, but I guess with the hard sole they just feel like incredibly comfortable well fitting street shoes, and when I put them on they don't mentally trigger me into running mode. I'll try them in spring and perhaps report back, if this version of the shoe is even on sale.++UpdateI have started jogging in these on the treadmill. Not a ton, maybe 4 times a week for 3 or 4 miles? But I still love them and I'm buying another pair.

LOVE EM'

I don't ever write reviews but I had to with these shoes. I had just bought a pair of Asics gel nimbus 12 and loved how soft and comfortable they were but they didn't help me with my problems when running uphill (achilles tendon/calves) so I decided to buy these. I had always went around everywhere barefooted when I was a kid so I figured why not start running like that. I loved how they looked when they came and when I put them on WOW! I couldn't believe how light and yet comfortable they were. I haven't had any problems running uphill anymore and they are so light I feel like I can fly! Only problem was when I went for my first run in them I didn't wear any socks and they rubbed against my achilles tendon on my left leg and got up in there pretty good so I'll be wearing socks when I run with them from now on. I love them so much I have been wearing them to school and everywhere else lol. Really recommend these for minimalist running!

Awesome Shoe

I had major feet problems (Plantars Faciatis??) and a Stress Fracture from the inserts the Dr. gave me. Couldn't run more then 1/2 mile at times. Started with Vibrams and gradually worked into them. By making my foot and ankle stronger I have now started training for a Half Marathon. The feeling that I get when wearing the VFFs in grass I now get from wearing the Green Silence on pavement. Consistently running 10-13 miles three times a week in the Green Silences. These aren't as bare feeling as VFFs, but they are considered racing flats by some. Buy a half size up though, first pair I bought were great for 5 miles, but a half size up feel even better. Plenty of room in the toe box area so my toes don't get squished together. If you like toe splay, and the VFFs, you really should get a pair of these. Not affiliated with this site-- but check out the review at <...>. I'm already looking at getting a 3rd pair for a upcoming deployment to Afghanistan.

Love these Shoes

This is my second pair of Salomons XR Mission Trail Shoes. I love the brand. This is my first time buying a pair with the Climashield. Works great in wet grass and soggy conditions. I wear them for an everyday shoe. However, they do run slightly hotter than the regular pair that has the breathable mesh. I prefer to deal with the extra warmth than soggy feet. Would recommend these to anyone.

Perfect after a proper break in

Initially, I was worried about the fit, as most reviews say it is too narrow.Upon arrival, I could feel that it was kind of squeezing my mid foot from both sides.Used it on a short hike with a bit of caving just to force the issue, and now, it's perfect.Grip is fantastic even on smooth wet rock.When hiking, I prefer to "feel" the terrain with my feet. The soles on these are a bit too thick/and soft for that. As road to trail shoes, these are perfect.Those with exceptionally wide feet may have to reconsider though.

Dangerous color

This is my third pair of the PureGrit shoes. In the last 6mos I have worn them for a Spartan Beast, a Tough Mudder, and done all my trail running in them for training. They fit well, take a beating (on my feet and in the washing machine) and grip like mad. My wife recently got me a pair of the green with the cool green soles to wear for a Spartan sprint in AZ, I almost broke my neck the first time I wore them out. It seems that the colored soles are VERY slick with any moisture, this has not been a problem with my black/black soled pairs. I will still keep these, but I will not be using them in any events or any runs on slick trails. Buy the shoe, but stick (no pun) with basic black!!

My favorite running shoe

I've ran in asics, nike, and even pearl izumi shoes over the past few years, but these are my favorite. This is the first minimalist shoe that I've tried and I'm hooked. Several years ago, I started having problems with shin splints and ankle and knee pain. After some research, I learned that my heel strike and cushioned shoes might be contributing to the problem. I'm a little on the heavy side to run at 205 pounds, but this shoe has allowed me to keep running. I've had no problems with shin splints and these shoes fit so good that I don't even realize I'm wearing them. They simply fit perfect for me. I do agree with other reviewers that they are a little slippery when wet. And they breathe great, so they aren't the best for cold weather running. Out of all the pure series, I liked these the best. I plan on replacing my pair with another in the spring.

I'm satisfied with the purchase of the shoes. It's really my first time owing a pair of Brooks and to my opinion the are amazing. The fit, the comfortableness, the style, absolutely everything outweighs all the previous brand I have used before.

Not your everyday running shoe

The other reviews hit the nail on the head on how great the running shoes are. DO NOT BUY THESE IF YOU PLAN ON RUNNING ON THE ROAD! The studs are not designed for it; these are trail and winter conditions running shoes only. Great ones at that.

Finally replace my original Icebugs after 8 years

Iceburg really knows how to create an effective snow and ice running shoe. We run in the mountains of colorado all year long. In Spring, with the low humidity, snow only melts in the direct sun. The rest turns to solid ice! These shoes allow you to run seamlessly on ice, snow, rock, and dirt -- all brilliantly. While others are taking off and on their Yak-Traks or Kahtoolamicro-spikes, I just keep on going. Thanks Icebug!

If you hate the treadmill and want to run through a midwest winter? This is the shoe.

The icebug Pytho2 has series of slightly retractable spikes, these spikes enable you run over hard packed snow and ice without having to slow down or change your gait.I have worn these shoes for over 150 miles now throughout the winter of 2012-2013. We have had a lot snow, frozen rain and freeze thaw cycles making for slippery conditions underfoot. Wearing the Icebugs I have been able to plow through these adverse conditions without fear of falling. The Pytho is a low drop shoe with a rather stiff midsole, its best suited for trails and shorter ice infested urban runs. I have ran up to 10 miles on the streets in them, they are easier to run in then YakTrax but running on the treated streets is not my favorite activity in these shoes. I have ran up 20 miles on hard snow packed and ice covered trails, thats were these shoes really shine. Tonight I ran in near blizzard conditions on the Lake front trail, I did not have to worry about ice and water resistant upper works well when you get caught in a snow drift.The shoes look to be very durable, I am sure they will last many seasons, making the seemingly high price point become a relative bargain. The midsole is a little hard and inflexible, thats why I rating them 4/5. The fit a little large, but in the winter I like to wear slightly thicker smart wool socks, I got mine true to size and they fit fine.

Worth it!

Fantastic Shoes. I have never ordered shoes online before so I was concerned about the fit. They fit perfectly. I ordered a half size bigger than my everyday shoes. The fit is snug without any discomfort spots when I run. Some online reviewers noted that the 0 drop thin sole is still fairly sensitive on the ground. It is, but there is still a fair bit of protection from the terrain. The aggressive grip is perfect for both offroad and asphalt running. The toe box is roomy without being sloppy, and the fit across my instep is comfortable. I would definitely order more Inov-8 shoes.

So near yet so far

The good:-A fairly flat foot position with minimal heel rise.-Sole thickness is a good balance of protection and ground feel for longer distances over rough terrain.-Reinforced mesh body to the seam of the sole, ought to offer good drainage-Two layer toe cap to protect from wear and bumpsThe meh:-Toe box is wider than most Inov-8 models, but still pretty narrow by minimalist standards. Not much room to move the piggies around.The bad:-Runs about a half to full size small (in the larger sizes at least). Compared my Trailroc 235 size 15 to three other brands and it is up to 1/2" shorter. Going to have to return them.Sum:If you don't mind a moderate toe box, this could be a good distance trail running shoe, but be aware you may have to try a few different sizes.

grippy minimal - not minimal grip

I've worn this shoe for ~500miles now, it's my current go to trail shoe. I run fairly technical, often muddy trails around Chapel Hill, NC; lots of roots, some rocks big and small, a few hills, and mud. These shoes replaced a pair of Merrell Trail Gloves, but probably compare more closely with my secondary shoes, Merrell Mix Master II (see my review: Merrell Mix Master 2 Minimalist Running Shoe - Men's), though without the drop and better grip.I completely wore out a pair of Trail Gloves, the shoes fit my feet and needs well, but have very little grip. I really wanted a pair of Trail Gloves with an aggressive sole. The 235s have great tread and are 0-drop, but let me down otherwise.The sole is hard and durable, starting to show wear. But hard is less flexible. The harder sole and moderate cushion combined with the upper construction feel like a big piece of rubber strapped to my foot. The shoe and sole never really move with my feet.The grip is really where these things shine. They are average on wet rock and wood, but do great in mud or a wet forest floor. The midsoles allow you to feel the rocks and ground underneath, but are thick enough to handle sharp rocky descents without problem.The upper is fairly well made. The toe cover only protects the upper, and quickly pulls up but remains in place. Last week I noticed a tear in the side of the upper along the plastic overlays. This is somewhat common. Still, the shoe is 500 miles of technical trail old, and not harmed by the small tear.I must wear socks with these shoes, and kept the thin insert. Without those, the opening rubs against my ankle bone and causes a blister. The little extra height provided by the sock and insert completely resolve the issue.The shoe drains well in the water; I've forded a number of creeks. The shoes gain only a bit of weight, and do not slosh.4 STARS. It's a good shoe. It's minimal, but not overly. It has a great tread, especially for being minimal. The hard sole wears well. I will not buy a second pair; I want something more minimal and that fits and moves with my foot far better. And the grippy 235 sole!
