Product Description
The Cascadia 8 was designed from the gritty, wet, and uneven ground up. Engineered to adapt to the surface and your foot, this versatile piece of equipment runs an ultramarathon and then asks for more. We swapped out the midsole for BioMoGo DNA to create a super cohesive transition and deluxe-ified the Segmented Crash Pad on the lateral side to smooth that heel-to-toe even more. The suede geometric pattern on the upper is a shout-out to past Cascadia designs but also serves the function of wrapping the foot for a close fit. Don't just take our word for it: Runner's World named the Cascadia 8 its "Editor's Choice" in the Trail Shoe Guide in the April 2013 issue and wrote, "The Cascadia has that rare combination of road-shoe comfort and trail-shoe ruggedness." In short, the Cascadia 8 offers "A well-cushioned and smooth ride on any surface." Please note: The Cascadia is intended as a trail running shoe. It is not pack-rated and may not hold up to the extra weight and demands of long pack hikes. I really liked these shoes when I started wearing them but after 2 months (about 130 miles) on rocky trails they were worn out. Many of the cleats were worn completely and there was a crack in the sole and it was delaminating. I was told that it might be a manufacturing defect so I tried another pair and these seem to be wearing out faster. I talked to someone else that runs the same trail I do and wears these shoes and he had the same experience of soles wearing out fast. Not sure what shoe to try next?

Everyone's feet are different so fit is a tricky thing to get right. For what it's worth, these shoes are very, very comfortable for light running (on and off road), long walks, or just everyday use. I've tried North Face, Salomons, New Balance, and other brands to find the right fit for my mild overpronation. These are the ones. They tend to run a bit small so a half-size larger might do the trick. They feel so good on pavement and dirt, I've been inspired to start running again...that is until my lungs seize up.

I enjoyed running in the Cascadia 7 and I think that they dialed in the fit a bit more with this version. I really can't think of anything about this shoe I would change outside of making the forefoot just a tad wider, but it never bothered me during runs. If you regularly run in Cascadias you're in the clear, as Brooks didn't depart from the tried-and-true formula here.
