My First Barefoot Shoe

Easily the best pair of shoe I (27 years old) brought. Worn it for about a month, excellent walking shoe - its so light I feel like I'm flying everything I walk in it.Used to be in slippers all the time (except for work), now my usage pattern is 50% Cypher Glove 50% Slippers

Great sport/exercise shoe

I have two pairs of this model shoe. Merrell shoes are an excellent fit for my foot. I wear these without sox (they are a barefoot shoe) and use them for urban walking on sidewalks and trails. They are very comfortable and provide good support.

Great replacement for Nike Air Pegasus 28s

I run about 5 times a week (35-40 miles total), and I rotate running shoes to give them more time to recover. For my shorter, faster runs, I wear Saucony Progrid Kinvaras, and for my longer, slower runs, I had been wearing Nike Air Pegasus 28s. However, I burned through two pairs of those, and I had a third pair but I gave them to my dad. Unfortunately, the 28s went out of production, and for the Pegasus 29s, Nike apparently did a drastic redesign, which many 28 lovers have given thumbs down. Well, my local running store didn't have 29s in my size anyway, so I didn't test them out. I did test the Brooks Glycerin 11, as well as the Nike Lunar Glide and a pair of ASICs (I can't remember the exact model).I fell in love with the Glycerin almost immediately. It's soft all around, so there are no places where it irritates my foot (top, side, or bottom). It's not a flat shoe (i.e., the heel has more cushioning than the forefoot), so obviously if you are into serious forefoot strike, you probably won't like this shoe. I tend to midfoot strike on long slow runs, and I feel like this shoe really babies my feet. The toebox is roomy without being so large as to encourage blisters.In terms of color, the blue is pretty bright, but it probably makes for a good safety feature. The back of the shoe does contain a reflective patch as well.

I'm used to having to buy insoles to make a shoe feel great, but this one is soft each step and fits perfect right out of the box. It feels like running on a very firm tempurpedic mattress.

Great shoes but rubber on heals wore out after two months

I'm not a big runner, but I got these because I'm training for my first full marathon and friend highly recommended these shoes. They are great and feel very comfortable for the runs I'm doing (about 10-27 miles a week). Only thing is that it's been almost two month (got these around August 14th), and the rubber on the heals are already worn out on both shoes. There is very little to no threading at the heel of the outsole on either shoe. The rest of the outsole is fine, insoles are still comfortable, and the upper portion still looks new. I like these enough to get another pair, but concerned that the outsoles may wear out quickly again. If it wasn't for that I'd give these shoes a 5 out of 5.UPDATE - 10/10/2013 - So I submitted a defect form to Brooks Sports outlining the issue, and I must say their Customer Support is great. 30 minutes after submitting the complaint, I get following response:"We have reviewed your case and determined that it does look like you have some premature wear on the shoes. It does look like you may be a heavy heel striker which may contribute to the faster wear rate on the shoe. We went ahead and placed a new order for you today. We do not know what the cause of the issue could be so if nothing changes in your running style you could expect to see this wear again. "Which is awesome. They are going to provide me with a new pair, and informed me of what type of runner I may be. Being a first time runner, I really appreciated the advice and the warning that the new shoes may result in the same issue (but just not as quickly as the current pair). New shoes were shipped out the same day (10/8, and I should have them in 7 days). Because of the quick action and response, I'm giving them a 4 out of 5. I'll update a month and half from now on if the wear is still the same (and if I remember).

Durable, comfortable trail runner.

About me: I am a heavy-ish (185-lb, 5'10") trail runner in Southwest Virginia. I have normal arches and no significant pronation. I run mostly 5-8 mile trail runs in the rugged up-and-down of the Blue Ridge Mountain hiking trails. I tried the Montrail Fairhaven on a promotional trail run put on by the local running store. I liked the shoe so much I bought it straightaway.The tread is aggressive enough to handle the leaf beds, rocks, and roots of SW Virginia trails. It handles slick and broken ground with ease. There is plenty of grab for those long, tough uphills, and just enough cushioning to help fight gravity on some of the steeper downgrades. I've put in about 85 miles on this pair of shoes so far. They are very comfortable and relatively light. I'm not noticing any wear on the soles yet.Note: I have not tried these shoes on the road. They're billed as a hybrid, but I don't want to wear down all that nice tread too quickly. I just don't see the tread on these shoes holding up to any significant road use.For the trail; however, I have not found a better shoe.

Great Shoe

I am not exaggerating when I say this has got to be one of the best road/trail hybrid shoes available. Having said that, I am excited for the shoe that will replace it, the Fluid Balance. But it will be a really long time before I am running in it because I have two pairs of the Fairhaven and love them.

Great shoes for friendly trailas

I really like these trail shoes that Montrail have offered. They're extremely comfortable and lightweight. The tread design on the soles look like they are made for easier trails and that's all I've used them for. I have also enjoyed running on roads with them since they are hybrids after all. My feet get a little sore after 20+ mile runs maybe because they are so soft but I recently did a 50 K in them and have no complaints. I will definitely wear these again!Bob

This Nike Autumn/Winter 2012 version of Nike Lunar Eclipse has a NEW HyperShield for repelling water away and provide excellent breathability. The upper also made of strategic overlays to provide extra support and excellent reflectivity to help keep you visible in low light conditions. Ideal for mild to over-pronator. This shoe delivers a snug, adjustable fit, plush cushioning and stability without stiffness. Packed full of features including Nike's Dynamic Support System, this adapts to your stride for ultimate stability and gives a very comfortable ride when you are pounding the streets. Also featuring a floating heel support clip (a horseshoe-shaped piece that wraps the perimeter of the heel) offers a snug fit and moves with the foot to help prevent it from rolling too far inward or outward, reducing under- or overpronation. And Dynamic Support in the midsole provides comfortable stability without the added weight or stiffness of a traditional medial post.

I over pronate while running ( flat footed ) and these really help. If you're on your feet all day and live an active lifestyle they're worth expensive price.

Still love my Mizunos--even the dirty ones

I have been running in Mizuno shoes (road training & flats) for about 15yrs and needed a pair of trail running shoes and tried the Wave Ascend 7s. I really felt like they gripped the trail, I never felt like I slipped or lost my footing. I've always been very happy with the fit/feel of my road Mizunos and these are no different.

Awesome shoes!

Easy five stars here. I broke these in on six miles of muddy trail straight out of the box and I couldn't be happier. I wear a 10 1/2 D and have neutral pronation. I ordered these in 10 1/2 and they fit perfectly. I really like that there is plenty of room in the toe box but the sole is still firm. The traction on these is great and really stick to the trail. The shoes also feel really light as far as weight goes. On paved ground, you can feel that you are running on thicker tread, but it is still a smooth ride on pavement while trying to get to the trail. I think the color does look good on these. The last 2 pairs of trail shoes i tried were Pearl Izumi and these Mizuno shoes are much better, a nicer fit, and much more comfortable. If these become anything less than awesome while I am running on them, I will update this review.

perfect! you should try mizuno shoes

The shoes are perfectly balanced and fit very well.I use the size of another mizuno running shoes i had to be sure of the size and it perfectly worked.Real nice shoes for treck and raids.

Like walking on air

After getting denied the first time trying to buy these shoes finally found someone else who had a listing and couldn't be happier. Shoes are very light and the the colors are perfect match for my Seahawks. A little snug when you first put them on but your foot quickly works into the right spot. Very comfortable for any kind of activity from lounging around to running. I couldn't be any happier with the purchase. Might even get a second pair in another color.
