Best suitable for mild to moderate overpronators, it still offers the same LunarGlide ride runners love with the addition of dynamic Flywire for an adaptive, glove-like fit-and it's lighter than its predecessor. The new update for this shoe is the flywire threads that cradle around the feet, this is now covered fully around the shoe for extra comforting. This acts like a sling around your foot and as you run it tightens and cradles your feet, increasing the support and holding it in place in the shoe. Good shoe, but stability is not great. LIGHTWEIGHT. SPRINGY

This is a good shoe, and would get 5-stars if it provided more support. I would not recommend it for underpronators or people used to the Asics Gel Kayano.Pros:LIGHTWEIGHT. This is THE lightest shoe I have ever worn in my life. It easily adds 1-2 inches to my vertical jump just form the shoes alone (not sure if due to weight, or the lunarlon).Excellent cushioning: it absorbs nearly all impact.Comfortable and fits true to sizeLooks pretty good (although the black is more of a dark charcoal gray)Cons:Doesn't provide stability like a Kayano. You will still experience some pronation/rollNot great for sprinting. Best for a jog/run.

The LunarGlide+ 4s are really comfortable; lightweight, and feels really stable- but not too firm when you walk or run around in them. I wear them casually. I also wear them for volleyball practice, even though they're not meant for it, they absorb impact surprisingly well (37 inch vertical). Compared to the LunarGlide+ 3s, the 4s feel more 'snug' around my feet. The volt green is brighter in person than in pictures online.Owned a pair for 5 months now, still looks brand new.

Big Improvement Over the Awful 1080(V1), Almost Back to the Standard of the 1060 Series

Yay! Partial redemption for New Balance with the 1080V2, after blowing it big-time with its predecessor, the 1080 (which we'll call 'V1' to avoid confusion).New Balance had a SWEET thing going before the 1080V1, namely the 1060 Series (i.e. NB 1060 through 1064)... which were all more or less awesome shoes. Terrific shock absorption, great fit, very neutral, made in the USA, came in widths. Even usually had a few 'grown up' color schemes. 1060 Series was pretty much EVERYTHING you'd want in a shoe, or close.Then New Balance decided to 'fix' what didn't need fixing. Result was the crap-tastic 1080V1.The V1 somehow managed to be a neutral cushioning shoe that was neither neutral nor cushioning. The fit was still good, but the shoe's tendency to roll your foot strongly to the outside was ridiculous for an allegedly 'neutral' shoe, and this only got worse with age as the foam broke down. They also felt stiff and downright 'weird'. This was the shoe that sent me back to Nike briefly.But Nike screwed the pooch too... the Vomeros I had were superior cushioning-wise, but they were also very high and narrow in the last (i.e. were 'ankle-breakers'), even in their allegedly 'wide' width (I take a 2E). Nike apparently likes to save money by using the same last in different-width shoes, only the uppers get wider, apparently. New Balance, on the other hand, will usually give you a wider last/platform in their wide shoes, as the shoe gods and common sense intended.So okay, let's give New B another chance. Will they screw it up twice?1080V2 comes out. Cushioning is improved over the 1080, though still not quite back to 1060 Series standard. But they're 'cushiony enough', and I like the low ride height, which helps keep me from turning an ankle on potholes/ruts and the like. Fit is generally good, tight enough in the heel to prevent slippage, yet there's plenty of width in the toe box... exactly the combination you want. Shoe is noticeably light too, hopefully this does not have any major implications for durability, but it sure feels nice.But most of all, the 1080s actually do feel very *neutral* this time around. Am crossing my fingers that it stays this way through the life-cycle of the shoe. Have a feeling it will.Criticisms/areas for improvement?* They may have taken the whole 'fitted' thing too far in the ankle area. The collar of the shoe is quite aggressively/tightly fitted to you... some may like this, but it definitely annoyed me. Size-wise, I can wear either a 9.5 or a 10, and I chose the larger shoe just to get some relief from the aggressive collar. With the size-10s it's no longer an issue for me, and I can definitely see others choosing to buy these a bit large too. With the V1s and the 1060 series shoes, I was wearing the 9.5s.* In the forefoot area, the V2s nail it in terms of width, but the amount of *vertical* room inside the shoe @the forefoot is a bit lacking. Again, another overly-aggressive stab at making the shoe extremely 'fitted' to you. And again, another reason to go a tiny bit large when buying this shoe.* NB could up the cushioning slightly. These feel more 'bouncy' than plush, as if they used a more resilient foam with lots of 'recoil'. Is fairly cushiony even so, but the bouncy foam seems slightly harder on my knees than the plusher shoes I've worn. However, 'more plush' shouldn't be done if it will turn the shoe into a tall, high ride-height 'ankle-breaker' -type deal. But if it's just a matter of the shoes weighing a half-ounce more...* Could use the tiniest bit more arch support. Are a tad bit too 'flat' front-to-back. Even a significantly inferior (but popular) shoe such as the Nike Pegasus gets this more right than the 1080 does, last I checked anyway.* Needs a color option for grown-ups. Yes, the silver & navy color scheme is that, but it's only readily available in the UK, not the US. The three color schemes that *are* available here are varying degrees of 'almost, but not quite'. C'mon New Balance, many of your buyers are over 30 and aren't afraid to look it. In other words, you don't have to be a 'Nike' about this... you aren't hip, and that's what's hip about you. Just ONE fully grown-up color scheme, that's all we ask.(edit- Just saw the color choices on the new 1080 V3, and sadly NB seems to have ignored the advice in the above paragraph... all 3 color schemes are varying degrees of getting whomped with the ugly stick. What's so hard about that ONE grown-up color choice, NB? Some of us not only run in our shoes but also like to go to work in them too. Sigh.)Points for improvement aside, the V2's still a worthy shoe overall, and a vast improvement over the V1. I'm happy I got 'em - in fact, I'm now on my third pair, and I may order a couple pairs more before they're sold out (in part to avoid the awful V3 color schemes =o ).And if future 1080 versions fine-tune the 'fitted feel' and cushioning for the better, the unthinkable may actually occur... we might not miss the amazing 1060 Series anymore.Well, at least until New Balance again 'fixes' what doesn't need fixing, of course. =\

AWESOME!!!!!

I Purchased the 1080 V2 shoes at the same time as New Balance 610s. I intended the 610s for casual wear and the 1080s for running. The 610s crapped out within a month and a half (see my Amazon review). The 1080 V2s are AWESOME! I purchased these for running and they met the challenge. I'm 6'3" 240 lbs, a neutral gait runner. The 1080s fit great, were plenty wide for my super wide feet, were lightweight, and provided great cushioning. Perhaps my most favorite running shoe ever! 5 months in I still love them.

Comfortable, pretty and good price

I bought it for my son. He is 9 years old and the second year to do the track. Last year, he saw many boys used spikes in the final race so he wants one this year. At first I tried to buy Asics because I heard many good things from this brand. But the price is a little higher. He just uses the spike most likely few times and then needs another size next year. So I try to find one in reasonable price for him. Then I saw this Brooks spike, very pretty and match his navy and white team shirt. Price is great, just 32.25. Only the size is from 5. My son's size is 4. It made me hesitate until I read the size recommendation in Brooks.com. They suggest to buy half size bigger of this spike. I decided to try and it really a little bigger for my son. I think 4.5 is fit him but even 5 is okay. He put the spike on last week for practice and said it was very comfortable and help him run faster.

Great Shoes, size difference

These are great spikes and they were in great condition when i got them.I owned a pair of Brooks Mach XC spikes before these and i bought these the same size as those, however, they were slightly smaller than the ones i previously owned. I was okay with this though because i felt that those spikes were to big for my feet.Overall great shoe!

Inspired by one of the rockiest, toughest mountains on the Wasatch Range, the Altra Lone Peak 1.5 athletic shoe was designed to conquer the Wasatch 100. This men's athletic shoe boasts a quick-drying mesh upper with streamlined seaming construction to reduce chafing. HeelClawTM technology design offers a more comfortable fit without the traditional, stiff heel counter found in other performance shoes, while an innovative, sandwiched StoneGuardTM system deflects rocks into the midsole for a smoother, more stable ride. Soles too soft...gaiter strap does not work.

I have two pair of Altra 1.5 Instinct that I really like. In my opinion they are a better trail shoe than the Lone Peak.I don't know if it is the sole not having the "nubbies", and it is flat, but if you do step on stones you don't feel it as much.I guess my biggest complaints are that the sole allows you to feel (uncomfortably so) rocks if you step on them, and that the so called gaiter strap does not work. At least not with the two types of gaiters I have.If you run on trails that are mostly dirt or in a forest where everything is soft I think they would be fine.I use the trails in the mountains of Arizona and they are very rocky.

perfect everyday or race day trail shoe

after reading many positive reviews, i purchased these to compete in my first ultra marathon, right out of the box, the wide toe box, and the trail foot bed made this the most comfortable trail shoe i have ever worn, zero drop or otherwise, it performed admirably on a few trail runs, on on race day of my 50K, earned it's keep as my favorite trail shoe, after 31.6 miles run in the race, no blisters, no hot spots, no sore feet. despite the zero drop some ground feel is lost, so for fast trail training runs, my NB minimus trails still do the job, but for longer runs, and rocky terrain, the lone peak 1.5 cant be beat

Get the Lone Peak, Conquer New Mountain Trail

For a new company, Altra has rapidly established themselves as a pioneer in the natural running movement. At the crux of the movement is the notion that the foot can do a better job at self-stabilizing and balancing the weight of the body when it can move freely and is allowed more, relatively unencumbered, natural contact with the ground than when it's in a shoe that is thickly cushioned or overly correcting by design.Altra Footwear has designed a line-up of running shoes that mimic the natural shape and heel-to-toe ratio of the foot thereby allowing the body to run more naturally, more efficiently. the wide version was the same dimensions as the regular version

I had originally ordered the "regular width" Salomon Men's XA Pro 3D Ultra 2 WP Trail Running Shoehttp://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008JEWYEO/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_0 from Amazon, and found them a bit tight across the wider part of my foot. So, I decided to try the Salomon 2013 Men's XA PRO 3D Ultra CS WP WIDE Trail Running Shoe, which is the "WIDE" version of the same model. I waited for them to arrive before sending the first ones back just so I could ecompare them. When I tried them on, I didn't notice a difference in how they felt from the "regular" pair that I had originally received. I measured ALL of the dimensions of both versions that I received and found them to be EXACTLY the same in EVERY way. I can only guess the following:1. The first pair that was sent to me was a wide version that was accidentally put into a box labelled for the "regular" model of the shoe (probably not the case, given the fact the wide version costs much more for some reason)2. The second pair (the WIDE version) was actually a 'regular' version of the model that was accidentally put into a box marked for a wide version (but there was a tag attached to this pair that actually said "WIDE" on it, so I think this even less probable than scenario 1).I ended up sending both pairs back. I don't think my feet are that wide. I went through the trouble of measuring them formally, and found that my feet were a D(med/standard) width size. I do have a bit of a high arch, but I am not sure that has much to do with the width issue). Too bad, as these are pretty cool looking sneaks.I don't know what the real story is from the above. I can tell you that I was charged $25 more for the "wide" version though, which I would have (not so) gladly paid had the "wide" version actually been ANY wider (and therefor more comfortable) than the regular version.I give 3 stars because I am not saying anything that I consider positive or negative, due to the fact that I am left so perplexed by this whole situation. The shoes seem well-constructed, which speaks well of them, and they do look good too. I had to pay to ship back the wide pair as they were not directly from Amazon. At the end of this whole experience, I am out a bunch of time and $10 for shipping. What fun!

Good cushioning, lots of room in the toe box, and supportive arch

Owned a previous iteration of this shoe in this size (11E) that was great. This feels like maybe just a tad too much room in the toe lengthwise, but I'm betting a 10.5 would be close to too short...anyway, not the fault of the shoe - I'm just a tweener.Even so, the shoe is very supportive. Lace "system" is very convenient and allows good even support with very little fuss.I believe I may pick up a second pair so I can alternate them and hopefully get more life out of both pair.

Hate the MW576 but Loved the MW575

I've had several pairs of MW575 and MW574 in size 10EE. I always was able to just put them on and in about 2 hours they were broken in and felt great for months. I purchased 2 pairs of MW576 thinking they'd be the same, but they were very uncomfortable, even after 2 weeks. The bump in the middle of the forefoot was so large that it annoyed me with every step. Even though this shoe looked to be the same length, I was crowded in the toe box. I even tried new insoles but they were even more uncomfortable.I called New Balance to find out what was going on and they informed me that the MW575 was made on the AL-1 last, but the MW576 changed over to the SL-2 last (making it a completey different fitting shoe). New Balance was very responsive and allowed me to return the 2 pairs directly to them. They sent me a pair of MW926 in black and a pair of MK706. The MW926 was OK for a while (even more stable in the heel), but still not as comfortable as the MW575, and after about 4 months have become very uncomfortable. The MK706 was both too short and wide in the midfoot and heel so I couldn't stand them for more than an hour. New Balance has suggested I try the mw845 so I've ordered a pair of those to try. I've also tried on a variety of NB and other brands at local stores, but haven't found anything that fit like the MW575.I've come to rely upon my New Balance shoes for consistent fit and to get me through the day, but this new model was an extreme disappointment. I don't understand why NB took a great product and ruined it for me. I have to give NB kudos for making a wide range of sizes and for good customer service. My complaint is that NB gave me something great then took it away. This is a cardinal sin of customer service.The bottom line is if you liked the MW575 don't count on the MW576 as a replacement.

I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat. They're comfortable and relatively durable. I've worn out several pair (earlier models, though) over the last eight years. I'll continue buying them, as long as New Balance keeps making them.

May or may not be the shoe for you

I ordered these shoes for my husband. They were the same style, but a couple of generations later, than what he had been wearing. When they came and he tried them on, he said they felt good, but...the toe box is super wide and they looked very clunky. Think Mickey Mouse shoes. My husband loves comfort and pretty much doesn't care what anything looks like as long as it feels good, but even he thought they looked very big and wide. So we returned them. If you want a really roomy toe box, these could be just the shoes for you. Comfort and fit should trump appearance, so it's just a matter of opinion.

Different Than Previous Nimbus Models, But Also Better

The Nimbus 12 is new for 2010 and is a worth successor to the excellent Nimbus 11. If you are a neutral runner (with maybe slightly higher arches) that optimizes for comfort over distance ahead of absolute speed this is a good shoe for you or at least a good shoe for you to train in to avoid injuries.The Nimbus line is one of Asics franchise shoes; it is at the higher end of cost and purpose made for running. Note that there is little lateral support, so if you are cross-training in other sports you may need another pair of shoes. The Nimbus is particularly well suited for high-mileage runners (those running 25 miles or more a week) and those with a "neutral" gate and slightly higher arches - there is greater cushioning for the arches.For background, I am 6'1", 175, and run three to six miles several days a week - 2/3rds of the time on a treadmill and 1/3 of the time outside. Some seasons I kick up the miles for a marathon, but in general running is part of a cross training program. I have traditionally, oscillated between New Balance and Asics, but tend to favor Asics (in part because the numbering system used by New Balance makes it more challenging to find the same types of shoes from year to year). The Nimbus 12s are probably my 5th or 6th iteration with the Nimbus line.When you first see these in person you will notice two changes from previous versions:1. more flash2. an asymmetrical lacing patternThe toe caps and portions of the shoe are shiny and look jazzier (to some maybe more expensive) than previous versions. The asymmetrical lacing pattern means that the laces follow an angle from the front of the shoe to the back, rather than the traditional parallel line (along the middle) from front to back. In theory this is to follow the contour of your foot more closely for comfort. Personally, I cannot feel a real difference, but I don't cinch my laces very tightly either, and the tongue of the shoe tends to provide enough cushion from the laces. Would rate this as much marketing as a value add feature.The real difference from earlier versions is evident when you put them on. Instead of your foot sitting on a traditional wedge of foam, your heel actually sinks lower into the footbed of the shoe. At first they feel almost a little big, like you are wearing a low top shoe that comes up to your ankle and is also one size too large. But your foot also feels like you just slid into a well fitted shoe - strange paradox that is a little disorienting...until you go for a run.Running is where these really stand out. If you are looking for cushioning, these are the softest version of the Nimbus yet. Running on a treadmill or anything short of hard cement and you will feel like you are running on soft earth. Not so soft that you feel like you are running on sand, but soft earth - like a well kept grass soccer field. The clunky feeling that you felt in first trying them on disappears and they feel great. You can run many miles and your feet still feel good. On the flip side, if you feel that the cushioning robs you of energy, then would suggest another shoe.Two asides: (1) if you are new to Asics, most people order one size larger than their street shoe - ie, if you where a 10 in regular shoes, you may need and 11 and (2) maybe in the minority on this, but I continue to be bothered that the stock insoles on the Nimbus are pathetic. For a shoe you are investing more than $120 in, the insoles are barely better than cardboard. But almost all running shoes suffer from this issue, so I am not deducting a star for this.In summary, if you like the Asics feel, these are significantly different from previous iterations externally and internally, but an excellent shoe overall.Hope this review helps you.

New on Asics, quite impressed.

First of all let me begin telling you that I'm new to the Asics Brand. I did the terrible mistake of believing all running shoes were similar, therefore didn't pay much attention to brand, just a correct fit for my underpronation.And Yes, what I mistake I made.I'm not a marathoner or intend to be, I categorize myself as an individual who tries to have a somewhat healthy or active lifestyle and not be surprised by a heart attack in my mid 40's.I jog around 6 kms (3.7 miles) per day and wear out my running shoes approximately each 6 months (my last pair was a NB 767).Been feeling a bit of pain in my lower back and knee in the last couple of months, so a friend of mine recommended changing to a cushioning type of running shoe.After doing my internet research, I stumbled upn the Asics Nimbus 12 model, and got some great reviews of it.So I took the chance and ordered them.The minute I tried them on, I felt amazingly well, my feet felt like cuddled, supported and cushioned. Then I went out and did my daily jog.Not only I got less tired, but felt no pain.So, considering that I'm not into fads or anything like that, I strongly recommend this par of running shoes if u haven't made up your mind.I know that my next pair of shoes will be Asics Nimbus....
