La sportiva vertical K

I have purchased La Sportiva Vertical K for my wife, son and myself. We all have extensive experience running with these shoes.My wife and myself put few hundred miles on the shoes in the mountains of North Carolina, Southern Virginia. The terrain is varied from sharp rocky, rootsy trails to slickrock. There was consensus between my wife and me that these shoes feel like slippers and that they are unique. They have good grip on the rock thanks to the sticky proprietary rubber that La Sporiva is known for. They feel " tall" with higher centre of gravity. That makes it tough to run when tired. They get tangled over the trail scree easily. Great on smooth gravel and hardpack. They feel unstable on the slanted terrain. The toe protection is not great as with other La Sportiva trail running shoes. Missing rock plate is occasionally needed especially when sharp rock pokes trough the soft sole between the ribs of the rubber.They run 1/2-1 size smaller. My son raced TransRockies run (120 miles in 6 days) with the shoes new out of box. He liked them very much.Conclusion: Fast "minimalist" trail shoe for shorter runs ( less than 20 miles), good for racing. Not recommended on technical trails with lot of trail scree especially sharp rocks. Cannot wait for the new version with rock plate!

Superior Grip for rocky trails

I can't say enough good things about the grip on these shoes. Sometimes I swear I am running straight up the side of cliffs (ok...very big rocks, but let me dream a little). They are very light weight, yet pack a smooth ride. Definitely go a full size up (or more) over your regular shoes. I did that and still had to remove the insole. Without the insole I have pretty good ground feel, not as good as my NB 010 or 110, but still pretty good for the comfort they give me.I'm hoping La Sportiva will get rid of the insole and go more in a 'one piece' design direction. That said, these shoes are a superb choice for anyone tearing into rocky single track. I run a lot of miles on the Appalachian Trail here in PA and these shoes have made it into the rotation with my NB110s, and that's saying alot!

Excellent Minimal Trail/Mountain Running Shoe

These shoes were recommended to my husband while we were on vacation in Sedona. He needed trail shoes to navigate the surrounding landscape on longer runs. He loves them so much he ordered a 2nd pair! More of a minimal design - which is a preference. (If you don't know about minimal shoes, you might want to research that a bit before buying). Super soft upper that doesn't interfere with movement. No rock plate, but doesn't seem to be an issue for him. Great traction. They do run small. He got a full size up.

Used in my first 100 mile ultra race

I wanted to take a few minutes to write a review on the INOV8 Terrafly GTX Trail shoes. As some suggest in the beginning of their reviews, I rarely write reviews on products unless I find them to be top-notch in quality.As background, on March 1-3, I ran a 100 mile snowshoe race up in the Green Mountains of Vermont. The trail was rigorous, with 1,200ft elevation gain per 6.55 mile lap, so 16 laps in total to hit 100. I was very concerned with my feet getting cold/wet in this race, given not only the snowshoeing factor, but overnight run factor as well. I wore these shoes coupled with Darn Tough Expedition Wool socks, which turned into an amazing experience. A few quick points I want to make:- My feet remained dry and actually quite warm throughout the entire race - shoes were amazing to that regard. The Gore-Tex layer worked perfectly and was VERY breathable. While I did change my socks every couple laps worth, I did so simply because of sweat buildup. The shoes themselves breath quite nicely.- Shocked by the weight. At first glance, I thought these shoes would feel like bricks on my feet, but this was NOT the case. I'm use to running in NB110s and INOV8 minimal trail running shoes, therefore a heavy shoe would definitely not go unnoticed. These were perfect when considering weight, protection, etc.- I hadn't a single blister in this race, and only put 3-4 miles on them before the race. Fit was very comfortable, no hot spots, true to size (11.5 is 11.5). They are slightly narrower than my usual shoe, but I would still classify this shoe as somewhat wider, so wasn't a problem.Highly recommend this shoe for people running wet / snowy trails. You won't have to worry about water proof / un-breathable socks. These shoes will keep your feet dry.

Great winter running shoe

I bought these shoes for winter running in VT and they have been awesome. The traction is good in the snowy/slushy conditions of the season and my feet are always dry at the end of my runs. The only thing I wish is that they were a little bit higher on the ankle. Overall I would recommend these shoes for anyone who likes a low cushion gore tex running shoe for nasty weather.

These shoes totally rock. I have worn them in one race, a 4k trail run, and I got PRs. By the end I realized I hardly felt like I had shoes on my feet at all, they were so comfortable. Then I wore them at work and they were comfy and cozy all day long, and my feet didn't get that damp feeling. Walked across the wet grass and my feet stayed dry. All around great pair of shoes. Can you tell I'm thrilled?

Nice shoe but be careful.

When ordering this shoe, you need to consider if you will be using it barefoot or with socks. With socks, you'll want to order at least a half size larger than normal.

Crossfit to new heights

Ordered this shoe for my 12 yr. old son and couldn't be more happy. It's lightweight, supportive and, best of all, no tongue to worry about sliding to the side when he does his workouts. My son hasn't worn any other shoe since he received them. He says they feel like slippers!

Great looking sneakers that bring me back to the 90's

These shoes were the "shoes to get" back in the mid 90's when I was in school. These along with the 1600. I love New Balance style and comfort and these sneakers don't disappoint. I'm so happy NB decided to bring back all of their classic in nicer and colorful updated versions. I've already got the 1500, 574, 990 and these. 1600 are next in line.

The Nike Free Run+ 3 Men's Running Shoe offers a barefoot-like ride with the cushioning, traction and underfoot protection of a traditional shoe. Its low-profile midsole doubles as an outsole, dramatically reducing overall weight. The Nike Free Run+ 3 features the Dynamic Fit system, made up of Ófingers' of soft material that wrap the midfoot and arch for a glove-like fit. They move with the foot as you run, reducing the space between the foot and shoe for unparalleled comfort. A stretchy mesh inner sleeve with seamless overlays delivers a supportive, skin-like fit and the minimalistic, molded sockliner mimics the foot's curvature for added support and comfort. Flex grooves along the length and width of the outsole enhance flexibility and help maintain stability. For added flexibility and to help increase foot strength, the Nike Free Run+ 3 also has diagonal cuts through the arch area.

If you are into Barefoot running these are an excellent introduction

Number 1 these are "barefoot running" shoes if you want to understand what that is the following link is helpful:[...]I see one negative review here does not even mention barefoot running! Ok I blame Nike a little, they have tiny sticker on the inside of the box, they need to wrap the box in Yellow Tape and call it "Caution Barefoot Running Shoe"! Barefoot running is a tehnique - it does not mean that you are actually running without shoes.I do not wear them as a general leisure shoe and so my review does not cover that.Chose Nike Free because of :1. An excellent review on the Guardian.co.uk[...]2. The Running Room recommended them for beginnersRepeat Caution : these are all about barefoot running, if that is not what you want buy something else.I run with my dog and they are outstanding. Had a car crash and broke my knee and so when I came back to running wanted to run properly and use the foot rather than shock my knee and body and reduce injury. "Barefoot running" achieves this. Nike Free is a great introduction without having to wear a glove like contraption and is a good transition from a traditional running shoe. Very comfortable - naturally you adopt the barefoot style wearing them (I did) and run on the ball of your foor rather than your heel. Apparently you should use them for less than 10k and on pavement or a soft gravel path, not necessarily designed for trail running (although I have not tried it).Excellent product that helps you adopt the Barefoot running style. Be careful, research and plan your change of running style to barefoot.

Worst running shoes

Buy these if you want to make a fashion statement. If you want to run with these then forget it. These are the worst shoes ever for running, ever since i bought this have been having issues with my foot.

No more "runner's hangover"!

I've put twenty miles on these since I received them last week and have enjoyed them. I have a wide forefoot, low arch, average width heel, and over-pronate. A local sporting goods store recommended this particular model for me. This is the first running shoe I've been professionally "fitted" for. My knees have never felt better since I started running in them. My foot measures a 9.5 2E exactly, this shoe fits perfectly with enough room in the toe box for flex and foot expansion. To top it off, it's US made. Great shoe!

I bought these shoes in local sport store two months ago and used them mostly for running on the road (about 80 miles so far). I am 5'10'' tall and weigh 170#, running 30-45 miles/week. I usually buy NB shoes since they have wide sizes 2E that I need, they are very comfortable for me and durable. I owned previous versions of this model, namely NB 769 and NB 760 which lasted well over 450 miles. Hence, I expected to get similar product. Unfortunately, this is not the case. When compared to the previous models NB 860 is way too stiff and feels like that it has no cushioning in either heels or front. Lack of flexibility is the worst issue if you run on the road. Design has also changed and 860 looks cheaper than previous models, they also removed bubble wrap laces which was a nice little touch. Overall, this is not what I expected for $100. Shoes may be good for larger person or running on the trail but without putting extra money and getting softer insoles they are worthless for me. I hope that NB can come up with better model next time.

Great Stable Running shoe

I use to run in new balance 760s, the predecessors (including marathons). I was disappointed when NB discontinued the 760s and was hesitant to try the 860s and ran in my 760s fo far too long... Big mistake. I gave in and ordered the 860s, these shoes looked different and felt different from the 760s... I was already doubting my purchase. I laced up the shoes and went for a run...WOW... This were fantastic! They are lighter and have better heel support. highly recommend!!! Ps I also use to run in the ultra expensive ascics kayano... I felt these felt just as good!

Great match for PT Uniform

I purchased these 2010 Air Max's while I was deployed in 2011-2012... I really loved how they went with the PT Uniform. Aside from that, they are Air Max, so you gotta know that the fit and comfort level of the shoe was phenomenal as always. I am a big Air Max fan. I went with the 2010's instead of the 2011's because I thought that the 2010's had a better look during my online search. I later seen a pair of the 2011's and I was very upset with my decision. However, I do still own the 2010's and I am still happy with them. I will probably look into purchasing the 2012 Air Max's here very soon. If you have never owned a pair of Air Max tennis shoes before then it is time that you get a pair. They are great for running and just plain old grueling gym workouts.

when i used my new NIKE Air Max i thought it will be like the old on Nike Air Max 2but the old one was much better the shock absorbing is not not as good as the old onei have used it twice outdoor its much better than some other brands in the market but sure its not consideredthe best ........
