I’ve been running in Mizuno shoes for about 10 years, and the Sayonara is the best yet…in fact, it may be the best “all around” shoe I have ever worn in my 30+ years as a runner. I have been using Wave Inspires for long runs and races over 10 miles, and Wave Elixirs for track work and short races. I’ve had the Wave Sayonaras for about 10 days, and have not even thought about putting on the Inspire or the Elixir. The toe box has lots of room and my heal feels anchored. Stability seems about the same as the Elixir, and I think this shoe would work fine for a Half or maybe a Marathon. The upper is amazing…I think I could run sockless in this shoe with no problems. These shoes aren't just a little better, they are much, much better.

I'm a recreational runner who logs 700+ miles a year for cross-training and the occasional 10k or half marathon. I have really enjoyed my Mizuno Wave Precision 13s for roads, and New Balance MT-10s for trail running, and was looking for a new set of road trainers/racers with a low drop. These fit the bill perfectly. The Wave Sayoraras weigh 8.1oz with a 10mm drop -- a fairly minimal shoe. Their one-piece uppers fit me like a glove. I'd recommend these for mid-sole runners who don't pronate, are looking for a light weight shoe, and are used to shoes with a smaller drop and minimal cushioning.

I have been training and sometimes racing in the Mizuno Precision. That shoe was discontinued and this is in its place. It is a significant improvement in weight and quickness. There is ample cushioning with slightly less heel to toe drop. I have trained in it and also run a 10k race with great results. It is in the neutral performance category and perhaps the best shoe on the market in that niche. No question that this is a step up for Mizuno.
